R.O.S.E. is a genuine immersion experience for adventurous travelers who want to indulge in another culture without eroding traditional, local values.

It is located in Uttarakhand, India in the Himalayan foothills.

R.O.S.E. (Rural Organization for Social Elevation) was founded in 1983 by Jeevan Verma after he became interested in social work to help his community. R.O.S.E. runs a public school for poorer families, has built 5 houses, a dozen composting toilets and helps with improving life in the valley in large and small ways. Ongoing funding comes from hosting international visitors. As a guest at R.O.S.E. Kanda your fees go toward these projects and other local jobs.

During your time at R.O.S.E. you will be hosted by the Verma family and stay in their guest lodging and take meals with the family. You can spend your time taking part in various voluntary activities such as; teaching at the school, helping with household or garden chores, taking part in a construction project if one is scheduled, doing computer work to help with outreach or possibly some other project of your own devising.

“The experience I gained here will always remain as one of my most precious possessions.”
